The Silicon Review
Organizations of all sizes are at risk due to the rise in data breaches. Hackers are getting their hands on more dynamic ransomware to cause billions in damages. We are in the digital era, so organizations are becoming more vulnerable to attacks. There are several new entry points opening up from mobility to application, from email to cloud environment, from the payment gateway to the data center, and many more. Technology has altered the way business is done, and now almost every business is a “digital business.” Although digitally-enabled businesses certainly have an increased attack surface, the key principles of cybersecurity best practice will always remain the same.
Irrespective of the size of the industry, data plays a vital role in the day-to-day activities of a company, and security professionals must be well equipped with a reliable defense strategy. GlobeX Data Ltd. is one such company which designs, develops, and markets Swiss hosted Cybersecurity and Internet privacy solutions for secure data management and secure communications. The Company distributes a suite of secure cloud-based storage, disaster recovery, document management, encrypted emails, and secure communication tools. GlobeX Data Ltd. sells its products through its websites, affiliates, approved wholesalers, distributors, and telecommunications companies worldwide. GlobeX Data Ltd is a publicly traded company, founded in 2017, and it is based in Toronto, ON, Canada and New York, NY, USA.
In conversation with Alain Ghiai, Founder and CEO of GlobeX Data Ltd
Q. Bigger the network. Bigger the issue. Do you think your services are ready to cater the needs of never ending digital transformation?
Absolutely. We are scalable to any size and region globally. As an example, we are the leading security solution of Telcel, in Mexico, part of America Movil, the third-largest telecom operator in the globe with almost 400 million subscribers. We operate in four continents and have plans to increase to two more in 2021.
Q. Where do you think the modern internet security system is lacking behind, and how is your company filling the void?
The modern Internet security lacks privacy and security everywhere you look. The large cloud service and infrastructure providers are more interested in mining your data then securing it. GlobeX’s prime directive is to protect your data and your privacy. This is why we built our systems with our proprietary technology and with privacy in mind. We do not integrate with open platforms, and we store all your data in Switzerland, where the data privacy laws are the strictest in the world. Essentially, you pay us for a service, and we are committed to providing you the best security and privacy you can get anywhere. We never look at, or sell your data, and we do not data mine any of it. Companies that mine, resell or use your data for commercial purposes are not only breaching a user’s privacy and security; they also are prone to hacking by malicious hackers. This is where we hear every week about the large databases being hacked. The problem lies both with the data miners and the hackers hacking the data miners.
Q. What motivated you to reinvent cyber security and Internet privacy solutions?
I was motivated by my personal views and experiences of privacy in my life, and by my passion for technology since I was 12 years old, when I built my first computer.
Q. Modern cyberattacks are equally automated. How do you help organizations to fight fire with fire?
All our technology and products are created with security and privacy-by-design. We developed our proprietary VirtualVaults and HeliX technologies, which require a lot of processing power. VirtualVaults encrypts each user’s data separately and segregates each user from another using multiple encrypted “Vaults”, protecting each user with multiple security layers. HeliX is our way to secure in multiple ways the transfer of data from your device to our servers. Contrary to most services, we do not encrypt at device level, we do all encryptions at server levels in the data center. Essentially, we built a solid pipeline for you to beam back and forth your data to view it and work with it while you are always working out of the servers in Switzerland, since we do not store any meta data on your device. We also have our proprietary SekurSend feature with SekurMail, our email system, integrated in all our solutions. This feature lets a user send an email with no size limit, to any other person inside or outside the platform while protecting the security and privacy of the sender and recipient of the email, and eliminates email phishing and BEC attacks. This can be achieved even if the recipient is not using our Custodia platform email. This is great for any professional organization and even consumers looking for privacy and security. Without SekurSend the limit is 5GB per email sent. SekurMail also comes with enterprise grade real-time archiving, data export and business continuity features. We use our own infrastructure and do not outsource data processing and storing to any other cloud platform such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure. Our proprietary VirtualVaults and HeliX technologies are too costly for other large providers and it will also hide your data so it is useless for most companies that make a living by mining your data and reselling it.
Q. How efficient is your security expertise, and how do you keep your service standards up and running?
Our team has decades of experience and expertise, and we always try to get ahead of the game when it comes to protecting our customers’ data. We do not use Open Source coding and we work in a very agile manner. So far, it has created some very good results.
Q. What are your future plans for the development of your company?
We are now looking at expanding our reach in North America by launching a Channel Partnership campaign in 2020. We already operate in Latin America, South Asia and Europe, and will soon launch in South East Asia and the Middle East. Product-wise, in August 2020 we are launching Sekur, our bundled secure communications solutions which includes SekurMessenger and SekurMail. SekurMessenger is our proprietary Encrypted Messenger application with self-destruct timer, no social engineering of your contacts, and all data transmitted and hosted in Switzerland. Sekur, available at https://sekur.com, is geared to individuals and businesses of all sizes looking for the ultimate in privacy and security. Sekur also eliminates BEC (“Business Email Compromise”) attacks and we are already getting a lot of interest in anticipation of its launch in August 2020. Sekur will also include other applications down the road, such as encrypted and private voice and video conferencing.
